Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to own production-critical applications in a hybrid role supporting Austin, TX and Warren, MI centers. You will apply Site Reliability Engineering practices to ensure availability, performance, monitoring, and rapid issue resolution across Linux, Windows, and database environments.

You will troubleshoot, deploy, and document changes, manage incidents, and partner with infrastructure, development, and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable services

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is required.
• 3+ years in a technical IT role with production systems experience.
• Experience supporting Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Working knowledge of Oracle and/or SQL databases.
• Knowledge of containers with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to data integrity and accuracy, and willingness to participate in on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Support applications used in vehicle assembly and propulsion manufacturing environments.
• Monitor health, availability, and performance of applications and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues within SLAs.
• Design and implement configuration changes to meet business needs.
• Support production deployments, patch releases, and critical activities.
• Perform root-cause analysis across multiple teams (application, infra, DB).
• Create and maintain runbooks and troubleshooting procedures.
• Manage certificates, documentation, and application ownership activities.
• Use queries and diagnostic tools to investigate databases and hosts.
• Collaborate with business partners, technical teams, and management.
• Follow IT, security, and operational processes.
• Provide remote support to manufacturing sites and participate in on-call rotations.
• Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, high-performing team culture.
