Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer in its Madison, WI office to support civil, geotechnical, environmental, and water resources projects.

You will assist in field tasks and engineering design under supervision, contributing to studies, drawings, specifications, and QA/QC. The role emphasizes report writing, data analysis, site investigations, and client communication, with opportunities across remediation, dam/hydropower, and site development projects.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, or Environmental Engineering; MS preferred
• EIT or PE is a plus
• 3–8 years of professional civil/geotechnical/environmental engineering experience
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills
• Experience with CAD, Civil 3D, and GIS for engineering design
• Experience with GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, SIGMA/W) is a plus
• Willingness to travel and perform field tasks
• 40 hr HAZWOPER is a plus; valid U.S. driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Support services across Water Resources, Civil, Geotechnical, and Solid Waste engineering disciplines
• Develop feasibility studies, cost estimates, drawings, and specification packages
• Prepare contractor bid tools and oversee procurement documents
• Assist site investigations, soil borings, environmental sampling, and subcontractor oversight
• Manage data, perform geotechnical analyses, and prepare technical reports
• Provide quality control on calculations and deliverables
• Prepare proposals, define project scope, budgets, and schedules; participate in project management
