Job summary

Vanta is seeking a Staff Engineer to own the architectural foundation for our Governance and Compliance platform, enabling enterprise customers to structure and govern data across product lines and business units.

You will drive multi-quarter delivery of the enterprise org model, including isolated data access, audit workflows, and cross-cutting approvals, while guiding platform abstractions and data residency considerations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of deep backend engineering experience leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives.
• Designed platform abstractions to absorb diverse enterprise requirements.
• Experience shipping in stages and carving out incremental value.
• Ability to operate effectively across squads and teams without direct ownership.
• Familiarity with enterprise patterns: tenancy, RBAC, data isolation, cross-tenant ops.
• Strong written and verbal communication for stakeholders and leadership.
• Experience with data residency or GovCloud is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and multi-quarter delivery of the enterprise org model, including hierarchical product lines and data access.
• Define core abstractions to accommodate diverse enterprise requirements.
• Retrofit a live system toward multi-tenant structure with safe migration paths.
• Deliver customer value each quarter with disciplined, incremental milestones.
• Drive alignment across squads through technical clarity and credibility.
• Partner with Engineering leadership, Product, and Design to translate vision into deliverable work.
• Set technical standards and patterns for the group and shape cross-team architecture.
