Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Staff Engineer – Electrical/VSD SME to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement of electrical systems and VSDs on chiller products used in Data Center and Mission Critical applications.

You will guide technical teams, resolve complex design issues, and collaborate across manufacturing, design, and service groups to improve reliability and cost. A strong background in HVAC and travel readiness are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with 8–10 years of related work experience in HVAC equipment or similar field
• Proven ability to lead an execution team and coordinate resources
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for internal & external stakeholders
• Capable of traveling domestically and internationally up to 15%

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-functional teams across regions to drive continuous improvement of electrical systems and VSDs on chiller products for data center applications
• Guide teams technically to resolve complex design and application issues based on experience and training
• Prepare and participate in DFMEA/SFMEA, design reviews, reliability test plans, and manufacturing design for service
• Coordinate with global design, manufacturing and service groups to share lessons learned and improve product quality and cost
• Assist root cause analysis to drive corrective actions and reduce future failures
• Contribute to testing programs to validate methods reducing human intervention in service and maintenance
• Support chiller retrofit offerings and transition to condition-based maintenance recommendations
• Utilize warranty data to generate service content and knowledge sharing
