Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Staff Engineer – Electrical/VSD SME to lead cross-functional teams globally, focusing on electrical systems and VSD designs for data center chillers and mission-critical applications. You will guide resolution of complex issues with extensive product knowledge and collaboration across functions.

The role requires strong leadership, engineering excellence, and the ability to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally to support global projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 8–10 years of related work experience in HVAC equipment or similar Data Center applications.
• Ability to lead an execution team and coordinate Johnson Controls resources.
• Strong communication with internal/external customers and senior management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications.
• Six Sigma skills and experience with manufacturing systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.
• Fluent/functional English; Spanish and/or Chinese a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate on multi-functional teams to drive continuous improvement of electrical systems and VSDs for chiller products.
• Guide technical teams to resolve complex design and application issues using experience and training.
• Develop, test, and validate service literature and manuals for electrical systems and VSDs.
• Contribute to training materials and knowledge sharing across global teams.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and service groups to improve product quality and cost.
• Support warranty teams to determine root causes and corrective actions.
