Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Staff Engineer in Digital Development to design, build, and maintain enterprise-scale platforms. This remote role requires collaboration across onshore and offshore teams and adherence to enterprise architecture standards.

Key technologies include Angular, Node.js, Drupal, and AWS with CI/CD. The position emphasizes non-managerial technical leadership and process improvements across the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; and/or 10 years of related experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development with a focus on web and mobile technologies, including highly-transactional, mission-critical applications.
• Remote position; must work during Arizona business hours (Mountain Standard Time) and collaborate with team during those hours.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical direction for onshore and offshore development teams.
• Reviews requirements and design docs to meet business objectives with Architects' guidance.
• Maintains code quality via code reviews and unit tests.
• Leads development, configuration, testing and debugging of complex software for Digital Development teams.
• Contributes to project deliverables by performing system administration and development tasks.
• Supports Tier 2/3 IT issues and escalation handling.
• Drives performance reviews and hiring discussions.
• Ensures enterprise architecture principles and CI/CD practices are followed.
• Oversees integration with Angular, Node.js, Drupal and AWS-based platforms.
• Adheres to security, OPS, and monitoring standards.
