Job summary

Raft is seeking a Staff Engineer for [R]AIMS to lead architecture, execution, and engineering rigor. You will code hands-on, set direction, and raise engineering quality across the team.

You will work with platform leadership, product, and delivery to guide architectural decisions and major epics. You will operate at the intersection of distributed systems, AI/ML platform engineering, and Kubernetes-native infrastructure, balancing rapid mission delivery with long-term platform integrity.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and shipping production software across frontend, backend, infra and ML.
• Experience designing distributed systems with service decomposition and observability.
• Strong hands-on Kubernetes and cloud-native architecture experience.

Responsibilities

• Drive architectural decisions across the [R]AIMS platform balancing performance, security and maintainability.
• Lead major epics from conception to delivery with cross-functional teams.
• Mentor engineers and improve code quality and patterns across the platform.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers on model integration and deployment.
• Engage with DoD stakeholders to demonstrate Raft's capabilities.
