Job summary

Raft is seeking a Staff Engineer for the [R]Aims platform to lead architecture, execution, and engineering rigor. You will be hands-on in the codebase while setting technical direction and elevating the team’s engineering standards acrossRaft’s AI mission system.

You will collaborate with platform leadership, product, and delivery teams to drive architectural decisions and establish reusable patterns for scalable, secure production systems serving DoD environments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping production software systems across the full stack (frontend, backend, infrastructure, and ML)
• Experience with distributed systems, service decomposition, observability, and fault tolerance
• Strong technical communication and cross-functional leadership
• Hands-on Kubernetes and cloud-native platform architecture in production environments
• Willingness to obtain Security+ within 90 days and ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

• Drive architectural decisions across the [R]AIMS platform focusing on performance, scalability, security, and maintainability
• Lead major technical epics from conception through delivery with cross-functional teams
• Simplify distributed system architecture as the platform scales while preserving capability
• Optimize platform performance across edge and cloud deployments
• Mentor engineers and elevate engineering quality across the team
