Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Staff Embedded Software Engineer IPT Lead to head cross-disciplinary teams, manage cost accounts, and interface with Engineering and Program Management on high‑impact systems. The role emphasizes collaboration, agility, and strong leadership across programs.

The candidate will apply Model-based Engineering and DevSecOps in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering critical national defense products and maintaining delivery schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field with 12 years of related experience, Master’s degree with 10 years of related experience, Ph.D. with 8 years of related experience.
• U.S Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance and Special Program Access (SAP).
• Must have 2 years as a Control Account Manager (CAM) with EVMS.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during a program’s EMD phase
• Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including EVMS, critical path management, EACs, and workload forecasts
• Lead staffing efforts for each team, ensuring appropriate skill mix and coverage
• Plan and coordinate bench time priorities across engineering program initiatives
• Manage and maintain Jira boards to track progress and issues, documenting and resolving blockers
• Maintain and communicate delivery schedules
• Support proposal development and new program acquisition efforts
• Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership
• Work with suppliers and articulate project requirements
• Brief internal and external customer leadership on progress of work assigned
