Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead end-to-end hardware development for high-reliability space and aerospace electronics. You will own architecture, schematic, layout, test, and production across complex modules and systems.

The role requires hands-on design leadership in a startup-like, fast-paced environment, with cross-functional collaboration and customer-facing design reviews. Excellent communication is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 8+ years of board-level electronics design, analysis, and test.
• Experience in high-reliability space/defense electronics, including derating and thermal constraints.
• Experience owning design phase of complex boards from architecture to layout.
• Production deployment experience for hardware products.
• HDI PCB layout, IPC standards, and manufacturing practices.
• PCB signal integrity and power integrity analysis tools (e.g., Ansys SIwave, ADS SIPro, Mentor Hyperlynx).
• Understanding of adjacent software and mechanical domains.
• Proficiency in Altium.
• Extensive lab bring-up and verification experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design of complex electronics modules from concept to production.
• Lead hardware engineering teams to develop multi-module products.
• Provide hardware development expertise across the company.
• Develop hardware architecture and requirements for complex systems.
• Perform schematic design for complex boards.
• Layout PCB in Altium Designer and coordinate with PCB drafter.
• Conduct worst-case, SI, and PI analyses; guide methodology.
• Create bring-up and verification plans for new hardware.
• Lead bring-up and testing with teams to validate modules.
• Release modules to production with Manufacturing and Test teams.
• Mentor junior and senior engineers.
• Collaborate with adjacent software and mechanical teams.
