Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Distribution Engineer to design and oversee distribution projects from concept through construction in Denver. You will prepare voltage packages for overhead and underground systems, perform load and voltage calculations, and ensure adherence to standards and client needs.

The role requires an ABET-accredited degree, FE or EIT preferred, and 3+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited program and 3 years of relevant experience.
Or ABET-accredited degree with FE exam and 3 years of experience.
Or Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
Strong knowledge of electrical distribution power flow.
Proficiency in MS Office and distribution design software.

Responsibilities

Develop and prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects.
Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, BOMs, and other deliverables.
Perform distribution calculations: cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading.
Apply knowledge of NESC standards and utility procedures.
Research and compile project data for managers.
Perform field inspections of electrical facilities.
Prepare communications on vegetation management, ROW, and outage planning.
Develop client presentations and reports on technical results.
Perform other duties and comply with policies.
