Job summary
Burns & McDonnell in Denver, CO is seeking an Assistant Distribution Engineer to support licensed engineers on 2.4kV to 34.5kV distribution projects. You will assist with design from concept through design completion, prepare voltage packages for overhead and underground lines, and contribute to cost estimates, BOMs, and field inspections.
The role emphasizes analytical problem solving, adherence to NESC standards, strong communication, and teamwork.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
- Or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of the FE exam.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of distribution projects from concept through design completion.
- Prepare distribution voltage packages for overhead and underground projects, including equipment installation, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder design.
- Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, BOMs, and other deliverables.
- Perform distribution calculations (cable pulling, voltage drop, pole loading).
- Apply basic knowledge of NESC and utility standards.
