Job summary

Cherry is hiring a Product Designer to be the founding member of its design systems team and to lead the system's development as AI-native workflows are adopted. The role owns the design system end to end across Cherry's five products, including the component library, tokens, and documentation, and will drive design direction, component architecture, implementation, and outcomes in code.

They will build a Claude-first AI design system, influence Cherry's design tooling, and collaborate closely

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of experience in product design.
• Real, proven coding and technical skills.
• Track record guiding visual and interaction decisions across teams.
• Experience improving a design system across teams and scaling for growth.
• Strong point of view on design tooling and toolset selection.
• Ability to communicate with designers, engineers, and product leaders and align multiple teams.
• Instinct to lead: prior team leadership or readiness to lead.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a founding member of Cherry's design systems team with input on structure, staffing, and leadership as it grows.
• Guide the team through the shift to AI-native workflows and influence adoption of new tools and practices.
• Own the design system end to end: component library, tokens, and documentation.
• Own the design direction of the system, including component architecture, implementation, and outcomes in code.
• Identify structural issues, align approaches, and evolve patterns for scale across teams.
• Influence interaction and visual design for the design system and guide decisions across teams.
• Build a Claude-first AI design system where Claude and other AI agents produce on-system output by default.
• Help determine Cherry's future design toolset.
