Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Staff Design Engineer to own UX and interaction for our AI platform. You’ll craft end-to-end experiences that are production-ready, combining visual craft with strong front-end coding.

You’ll work across product and engineering, prototype using AI tools, and collaborate with customers to validate designs and drive strategy. Ideal candidates bring 6+ years in product design, demonstrate exceptional visual and interaction polish, and have experience with design systems,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of product design experience designing UX/UI for web and mobile applications with staff-level impact
• Exceptional visual design craft with typography, layout, spacing and detail
• Strong front-end coding ability, able to co-write production-quality code
• Direct experience designing AI or agentic workflow products
• Portfolio/case studies showcasing design craft and impact
• Fluency with vibe coding and AI-assisted design tools
• Experience prototyping and shipping in real codebases; comfortable with GitHub
• Track record of influencing design direction across teams
• Experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills including engineering and product leadership
• Experience building or contributing to design systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own UX and interaction quality for a surface of Samsara's AI platform
• Design and prototype production-quality interaction patterns for AI-powered features
• Use vibe coding and AI-assisted design tooling to prototype and validate patterns
• Collaborate with product and engineering on strategy and execution
• Work directly with customers to understand needs and inform strategy
• Provide technical expertise to Samsara's internal design team on craft and implementation
• Deliver all project deliverables on time and to spec
