Job summary

Samsara is seeking experienced software engineers to own complex, scalable systems that harness AI and data to transform physical operations. You will build across backend, frontend, and AI-enabled features, shaping products from concept through production at scale.

You will lead cross-functional efforts, mentor peers, and drive technical strategy while aligning with Samsara’s long-term vision. This role offers a remote-first opportunity within the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in software design and development, including building and operating production systems at scale.
• Strong full-stack fundamentals across backend services, APIs, and frontend (web or mobile).
• Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar.
• Experience leading cross-team or cross-org projects from inception through rollout.
• Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Track record of building zero-to-one products or significantly better systems.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical areas.
• Define and drive technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities, from backend services and APIs to the customer-facing UI.
• Design and ship full-stack features end to end across backend, frontend, and mobile as needed.
• Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate problems into technical plans and measurable outcomes.
• Build and scale systems behind AI-driven products, including data ingestion and APIs.
• Raise the bar through code reviews, design reviews, mentorship, and setting quality standards.
• Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.
