Job summary

Datavant is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the design and build of our next-generation patient data platform. You will shape distributed data systems powering analytics, product, and AI-use cases in a regulated environment.

This hands-on technical leadership role requires architectural judgment, implementation depth, and the ability to own complex data processing, validation, and serving across a multi-tenant cloud landscape. You will influence CI/CD, observability, and infra automation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience building data-intensive or distributed systems.
• Proven experience designing and operating large-scale data platforms in production.
• Deep expertise in distributed data processing systems (e.g., Spark or similar).
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, testing, CI/CD, and production debugging.
• Experience building systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Experience designing multi-tenant systems with isolation, scalability and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and development of core data platform capabilities.
• Design multi-tenant, multi-cloud data systems with strong isolation and durability.
• Build and operate large-scale distributed data processing systems (batch & real-time).
• Define data lifecycle patterns: ingestion, validation, transformation, enrichment, serving.
• Establish data quality gates and validation frameworks for trust and auditability.
