Vercel is seeking a Staff level Engineer to lead the design and development of a next-generation Data Platform at Vercel, a foundation that will power data across products and AI initiatives through real-time analytics and scalable storage.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Data Engineering, you will define the technical vision, mentor a growing team, drive architecture decisions, and collaborate with Security, Compliance, Legal, and product leaders to ensure high availability, low latency,

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data engineering or data architecture.
• Proven experience with Kafka ecosystem and big data tech.
• Cloud proficiency on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong data governance and security practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Notable data engineering contributions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design a next-gen data platform for batch and real-time analytics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data strategy.
• Define data ingestion, enrichment, and storage guidelines.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence.
• Ensure security, compliance, and data protection.
• Drive architectural decisions and roadmaps.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy and integrate vendor solutions.
