Job summary

Cribl, a leading data observability software company, is hiring a Staff Data Engineer to drive the architecture of our data platform. You will own Snowflake modeling, cost, and performance, collaborating with analysts, SREs, IT, and business teams to build scalable data pipelines and a robust warehouse.

You will mentor engineers, set technical direction, and advance our cloud-native infrastructure on AWS using Terraform and self-hosted orchestration.

Qualifications

• Deep Snowflake expertise with data modeling and cost management.
• Proven experience as a tech lead or staff engineer.
• Strong Python and SQL fundamentals with ELT experience.
• Experience operating self-hosted orchestration (Prefect preferred).

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for Cribl's Data Engineering team.
• Own architecture and design decisions for core data systems.
• Partner with Data Analysts, SREs, IT Engineers, and business teams.
• Clarify requirements, validate outputs, and communicate risks and timelines.
• Own and operate self-hosted orchestration and Prefect deployment.
• Manage operational hygiene, upgrades, and cost footprint of hybrid deployment.
• Own Cribl's Snowflake environment and RBAC/permissions design.
• Build, operate, and monitor data pipelines, ingestion services, and warehouse.
• Advance the modern data stack and dbt practices.
• Develop cloud-native services on AWS and IaC with Terraform.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to secure, compliant practices.
