Cribl is hiring a Staff Data Engineer to lead our Data Engineering team, shaping architecture and driving performance across data pipelines, data models, and the warehouse. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with analytics, SREs, and IT, and push for scalable, cost-aware solutions in a hybrid self-hosted environment.

You will own and evolve our Snowflake setup, dbt practices, and orchestration with Prefect, while championing security and RBAC.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in Snowflake with modeling, query performance, cost management.
• Proven technical leadership as tech lead or staff engineer.
• Strong Python and SQL fundamentals with ELT and data modeling experience.
• Hands-on experience operating self-hosted orchestration (Prefect preferred).
• Experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• Experience building cloud backends: APIs, ingestion services, event-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead for the Data Engineering team.
• Own architecture and design decisions for core data systems.
• Partner with stakeholders across functions (Data Analysts, SREs, IT).
• Clarify requirements, validate outputs, communicate risks and timelines.
• Own and operate our self-hosted orchestration platform.
• Run and evolve our Prefect deployment and its build/worker system.
• Own the operational hygiene and cost footprint of hybrid deployments.
• Own Cribl's Snowflake environment and RBAC design.
• Build and monitor the core data tech stack (pipelines, ingestion, warehouse).
• Advance the modern data stack and dbt practice migration.
