Job summary

Cribl, a leader in data observability, is hiring a Staff Data Engineer to lead the Data Engineering team and shape the platform's architecture across Snowflake, dbt, and orchestration systems. You will guide engineers, collaborate with analytics, SRE, and IT teams, and own critical data pipelines and governance.

The role emphasizes hands-on cloud infrastructure in AWS, self-hosted orchestration, and cost-aware design.

Qualifications

• Experience leading data engineering teams to deliver scalable data platforms.
• Strong background in Snowflake data modeling, performance tuning, and cost management.
• Hands-on experience with self-hosted orchestration (Prefect preferred; Airflow/Dagster acceptable).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with ELT patterns and data modeling experience.
• Experience building cloud infrastructure with Terraform or equivalent; IaC practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead for Cribl's Data Engineering team and shape technical direction.
• Own architecture and design for core data systems and drive reliable production-grade outcomes.
• Partner with Data Analysts, SREs, IT Engineers, and business teams across Cribl.
• Clarify requirements, validate outputs, and communicate risks and timelines.
• Own and operate the self-hosted orchestration platform (Prefect).
• Maintain operational hygiene, upgrade paths, and cost footprint of hybrid deployments.
• Own Cribl's Snowflake environment and data governance RBAC design.
