New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection is seeking an attorney for its General Counsel Division to lead enforcement matters, including litigation and settlements, on behalf of the City. The Staff Counsel will collaborate with investigators, inspectors, and agency leadership, handling matters from investigation through resolution in a high-impact consumer protection program.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in civil litigation including pleadings, motion practice, discovery, settlements, and courtroom advocacy.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience conducting investigations and evaluating documentary and testimonial evidence.

Aufgaben

• Identify unlawful conduct and develop enforcement plans and strategies.
• Develop and litigate enforcement cases, draft pleadings, manage discovery, depose witnesses, and appear in court.
• Draft and negotiate settlements and other relief to promote compliance and protect consumers.
