Job summary

The General Counsel Division (GCD) at the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel (AGC). The AGC will supervise a unit of litigators who research, investigate and prosecute deceptive and unlawful business practices, including AI-related issues.

The AGC will lead enforcement of pricing and consumer-protection laws, oversee trials in NYS court and administrative tribunals, train staff, and collaborate with GCD leadership

Responsibilities

• Oversee one litigation and enforcement unit of attorneys researching, investigating and prosecuting deceptive and unlawful business practices, including emerging AI-related issues.
• Lead enforcement of pricing and consumer-protection laws, oversee trials in NYS court and administrative tribunals, and coordinate with investigators.
• Train and mentor staff to meet the GCD's litigation and enforcement goals and deadlines.
• Collaborate with DCWP leadership and the Research and Analytics Division to support investigations, litigation and redress for consumers.
