Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel to lead the General Counsel Division’s litigation and enforcement unit. The AGC will supervise attorneys handling deceptive and unfair business practices, including pricing and AI-related issues, and will supervise trials before OATH and in state court.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar; four years of recent full-time legal experience after admission, eighteen months in supervision.
• Experience litigating in administrative agencies and in state and federal court; hearings and trials; dispositions and settlements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee one litigation/enforcement unit; supervise attorneys and investigators and manage investigations and trial work.
• Draft summonses, petitions, motions, briefs, subpoenas, consent orders, discovery documents and other legal papers; support litigation through settlement or trial.
