Job summary

The City of New York seeks an Attorney for the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) General Counsel Division to handle cutting edge consumer protection work. The Staff Counsel will manage enforcement matters from investigation through settlement, working with investigators, inspectors, and agency leadership to build cases and enforcement strategies.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the New York State Bar.
• One year of U.S. legal experience after admission to any state bar or six months as Agency Attorney Interne.

Responsibilities

• Identify unlawful conduct and develop enforcement strategies.
• Develop and litigate enforcement cases including pleadings, motions, discovery, and depositions.
• Draft and negotiate settlements that promote compliance and provide relief to consumers.
