NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) seeks an attorney to join its General Counsel Division, handling cutting-edge consumer protection litigation and enforcement for the City. Staff Counsel will investigate, litigate, and negotiate resolutions with an emphasis on protecting consumers and workers and advancing affordability.

You will work with attorneys, investigators, and agency leadership, potentially appearing before OATH and New York State courts, and collaborating on

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
• One year of satisfactory United States legal experience after bar admission, or six months as an Agency Attorney Interne.

Responsabilités

• Identify unlawful conduct and enforcement issues; develop investigation plans and enforcement strategies.
• Develop and litigate enforcement cases; conduct legal research, draft pleadings and motions, manage discovery, take depositions, and appear in court.
• Draft and negotiate settlements and other resolutions to promote compliance and relief for consumers.
• Collaborate with other divisions on legal issues related to consumer protection and enforcement.
• Work with data scientists and economists to inform agency work.
• Develop strong legal writing and oral communication skills and trial experience.
