Job summary

Confluent, an IBM Company, seeks a Staff Systems Engineer to lead Cloud, Network & Automation within Corporate IT. You will set architecture, define standards for IaC pipelines, and drive secure, scalable platforms spanning AWS, GCP, and Azure while partnering with Identity, Trust & Security, and Infrastructure pillars.

You will mentor engineers across time zones, own security postures, and guide integration with IBM.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in systems, cloud, or platform engineering and setting technical direction.
• Hands-on cloud experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP including large-scale cleanup.
• Experience designing Terraform modules and GitOps pipelines at scale.
• Knowledge of VPN, ZTNA, SASE technologies and secure networking.
• Experience with Kubernetes, managed databases, DNS, and TLS in production.
• Strong incident-management and on-call practices across complex environments.
• Ability to mentor engineers across time zones and lead cross-team initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for AWS, GCP, and Azure footprint and target state.
• Own IaC patterns and delivery pipelines for infrastructure changes and rollouts.
• Architect secure remote access, VPN, and zero-trust networking across environments.
• Own automation platforms and define standards for security, tests, and handoff.
• Define secrets management and workload identity patterns across clouds.
• Guide DNS, load balancers, TLS, Kubernetes, and observability for production systems.
