Job summary

IBM Software in the United States seeks a Staff Software Engineer 2 to join our Traffic team, building the networking fabric of Confluent Cloud. You will architect, design, and deliver high-performance distributed systems across AWS, Azure, and GCP, leading a team and collaborating with cross-functional partners to drive production quality and reliability.

Qualifications

10+ years of cloud infrastructure and cloud networking experience.
Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
Experience building and operating large-scale systems.
Experience leading a team of engineers and cross-team collaboration.
Solid understanding of storage, networking and OS basics.
Proficiency in C++, Go, Python, or similar statically typed languages.
Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and proxies like Envoy.

Responsibilities

Build and operate high-performance, scalable network data plane systems.
Lead technical initiatives across networking, cloud infra, and multi-tenancy.
Independently drive software projects and mentor engineers to production readiness.
Contribute to open source projects and engage with upstream communities.
Troubleshoot and improve ops for a multi-cloud, microservices-based stack.
