Job summary

International Business Machines Corporation seeks a Staff Systems Engineer to lead Cloud, Network & Automation within Corporate IT. You will set architecture, standards for cloud environments, and automation pipelines that power all IT teams.

This senior role partners with Identity and Security pillars, guiding integration with IBM. You will influence roadmaps, ensure security controls, and mentor engineers across time zones to raise the bar on operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years in systems, cloud, infrastructure, security, or platform engineering with leadership experience.
• Deep hands-on cloud knowledge across AWS, Azure, GCP.
• Strong IaC and GitOps experience with scalable Terraform modules.
• Experience with VPN, ZTNA, and SASE technologies across environments.
• Proficient in Python, Go, or shell for automation and orchestration.
• Knowledge of Vault or similar secrets platforms and workload identity federation.
• Experience operating Kubernetes and managed databases in production.
• Incident management and security operations across systems.
• Familiarity with FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similar.
• Excellent cross-team communication and mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for cloud environments, networking, and automation pipelines.
• Define standards for IaC pipelines, security, and governance.
• Lead integration of environments with IBM and guide multi-cloud strategy.
• Mentor engineers across time zones and improve runbooks, on-call processes.
• Drive risk assessments, incident response, and security posture improvements.
