Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff CAD Engineer, Silicon Design Environment, to shape TPU architecture and its integration into AI/ML systems. You will lead the development environment enabling the chips powering Google Cloud and AI hardware, collaborating with CI2 sites and other teams to push the frontier of silicon tooling.

You will drive design flows, toolchains, and AI-first approaches to enhance efficiency, with emphasis on architecture, verification, and performance across Google's silicon stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in EE/CS.
• 10 years of technical leadership in silicon design.
• Experience in at least two silicon disciplines (architecture, logic, verification, DFT, synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, physical verification, or firmware).
• Experience developing tools and development flows to streamline silicon life-cycle and productivity.
• Experience with Python or C/C++ programming.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and drive development and deployment of the CI2 design environment as a coherent system with tools, APIs and scalable flows.
• Collaborate with CI2 technical leaders to enable tooling and methodology changes for convergence on a shared environment.
• Engage with Alphabet teams to keep CI2 at the forefront of silicon development.
• Ensure technologies optimize project iteration speed while meeting power, performance, cost and quality metrics.
• Partner with the tools and methodologies team to apply AI-first approaches to improve efficiency.
