Anthropic is seeking Staff+ backend engineers to lead platform acceleration efforts for Claude API, SDKs, and internal tools. Preference for candidates in San Francisco, with Seattle as an option.

You will own strategy and drive the most challenging backend problems, while staying hands-on and collaborating with cross‑functional teams. The role requires deep experience with large-scale services, modern languages (Go, Python, Rust, TS), and strong rollout of CI/CD capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience building backend services and distributed systems in production.
• Strong knowledge of Go, Python, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, and deployment systems.
• Proven leadership on large technical projects and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and roadmap for your area and drive hard problems to resolution.
• Stay hands-on designing, building, and operating tooling that helps platform teams ship code faster.
• Define trust criteria for changes and build tooling to enforce those standards.
• Build agents to automate repetitive engineering tasks and diagnose failures.
• Collaborate with partner teams to reduce friction and turn fixes into reusable products.
• Measure developer experience and adoption to guide what to build next.
