Salesforce is seeking a Staff Backend Product Engineer for the Slackbot initiative to design, build, and own systems and APIs shaping the product experience for millions of users. Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications with a focus on backend development.
• Experience with PHP, Python, Java, Ruby, Go, or C; strong plus PHP/Hack, Java, MySQL, and Linux.
• Experience building search infrastructure, large-scale APIs, or AI-powered systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to contribute to technical architecture discussions and drive critical decisions.
• Strong track record of readable, testable code with maintainability focus.
• Solid CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and IR.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Drive Search & Intelligence: Develop systems for smarter information discovery across connected sources.
• Deliver High-Quality Results: Contribute to projects with measurable business and user impact.
• System Ownership: Own team features or core systems and define long-term health and roadmap.
• Operational Excellence: Support triage and resolution of complex production issues.
• Mentorship and Standards: Mentor engineers and improve engineering standards and tooling.
