Salesforce in San Francisco is looking for a Staff Backend Product Engineer to design, build, and own the systems and APIs shaping Slackbot's product experience, including intelligent search, data integrations, and scalable platform foundations.

You will ensure these systems are fast, reliable, and maintainable, mentor engineers, and drive architectural decisions while balancing speed, cost, and user impact.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional backend web development.
• Experience building search infrastructure, large-scale APIs, or AI-powered systems.
• Strong system design and architectural decision-making.
• Excellent communication with non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in PHP/Hack, Java, MySQL, and Linux.
• Commitment to writing testable, maintainable code.
• CS fundamentals in data structures and distributed systems.
