Job summary

TeamSnap is a fully remote company seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to advance our Node/TypeScript backend stack and scale systems serving millions of users. The role emphasizes ownership from design to production, cross‑team collaboration, and mentoring engineers while ensuring reliability and performance.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure, Data, and Support teams to translate roadmaps into durable backend solutions, shaping TeamSnap’s core services and data performance

Qualifications

• Hands-on backend engineering with production Node.js experience at scale.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and mentoring engineers.
• Strong understanding of system design, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and evolve backend APIs, services, queues, and data models.
• Own complex backend work from discovery through production support.
• Lead ambiguous technical initiatives and drive clear execution.
• Provide technical leadership across Node ecosystem and patterns.
• Connect architecture with platform, data, security, and observability.
• Improve reliability, performance, and operability of production systems.
• Debug production issues across code, databases, caches, and queues.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to deliver durable backend systems.
• Mentor engineers and articulate trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
