TeamSnap is a fully remote company building a scalable backend to support millions of daily users on a Node.js, TypeScript, and SQL stack. We seek a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to own API and service development, collaborate across teams, and maintain strong reliability in a distributed system.

The role emphasizes on-call readiness, feature exploration with product UX, and elevating testing standards while growing within a remote-first culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience leading large projects on high-scale distributed software systems.
• Proficient in backend development with Node, Python, Golang, Ruby or similar.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases such as MySQL / GCP Cloud SQL incl. migrations, profiling, and optimization.
• Hands-on experience developing APIs, services for mobile apps and web clients at scale.
• Delivered complex projects including debugging across multiple systems.
• Experience architecting APIs, event streams, webhooks, etc.
• Experience in distributed systems.
• Bonus: built services for livestreaming, advertising, or subscriptions.

• Develop engaging experiences for millions of users across mobile and web apps.
• Design and implement scalable apps and services within an evolving product architecture.
• Brainstorm and evaluate new product features with product and UX teams.
• Collaborate with other developers to devise solutions and share skills.
• Contribute to development standards to ensure code quality and continuous improvement.
• Champion automated testing to uphold reliability of backend systems.
• Engage in on-call duties and incident management.
• Evaluate new technologies to help TeamSnap move faster.
• Help teammates overcome blockers and complete tasks.
