Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to design, implement, and operate our most critical and scalable services, including user identity, friend graph, and core persistence.

You will work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver robust solutions. The role emphasizes high availability, scalability, cost-conscious operations, and the use of AI tools to speed development while auditing output for architectural integrity and security.

Qualifications

Minimum 9+ years of post-bachelor software development experience.
Experience leading technical teams or domain experts.
Experience with distributed systems and scalable services.
Proficiency in Java, C++, or Python.
Experience with NoSQL, Memcache/Redis, Kubernetes, AWS/Google Cloud.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and operate our most critical and scalable services.
Collaborate across teams to understand requirements and trade-offs.
Test, debug, and ensure code quality and security.
