Snap Inc. is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, implement, and operate scalable services such as user identity, friend graph, and persistence layers.

You will collaborate across teams to translate product needs into robust systems and ensure code quality and security. The ideal candidate has 6+ years in software development, expertise in distributed systems and languages like Java/C++/Python, and familiarity with cloud services and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience
6+ years of post-bachelor software development experience (or 5+ with Master’s, or 2+ with PhD)
Experience with distributed systems

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and operate our most critical and scalable services – user identity, friend graph, core persistence
Collaborate across teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions
Test, debug, and ensure high-quality code
Champion practices for availability, scalability, and cost management
Leverage AI tools to design and ship scalable services with security in mind
