Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is a remote-first tech company. We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and scale backend services and APIs in Java for distributed systems.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and partner with VA and other teams to deliver reliable platform capabilities. You will work across multiple technologies, improve operational tooling, and help deliver secure, scalable software in a remote, collaborative environment with flexible travel for client

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree is required; 9+ years in software engineering preferred.
Strong backend experience with Java and RESTful APIs in distributed systems.
Experience leading complex technical work and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

Lead design and execution of platform capabilities and tenant integrations.
Establish patterns for integration, onboarding, and developer experience.
Collaborate with VA teams, DevOps, and product leaders to reduce toil.
Plan roadmaps, document decisions, and communicate technical tradeoffs.
