Job summary

Northbeam is seeking a Staff-level Software Engineer focused on backend with strong Python experience to drive architecture and production-readiness. You will influence both backend and frontend areas and partner with data scientists, PMs, and designers to deliver scalable data products.

You’ll own new capabilities from architecture through production, shaping a scalable experimentation platform, real-time data infrastructure, and AI-driven workflows for marketing teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and building distributed backend systems, APIs, and data processing in Python.
• Deep experience owning system architecture and tradeoffs at scale.
• Proven track record partnering with PMs, designers and data scientists to shape what gets built.
• Startup or breadth across ambiguous environments with sound judgment.
• Ability to turn ambiguous product needs into sound architecture and production-ready solutions.
• Fluency navigating complex datasets to trace dependencies and issues.
• Frontend experience with React and TypeScript; deep frontend specialization not required.
• Strong coding fundamentals; AI is an accelerator, not a substitute.
• Generalist mindset across backend, frontend, pipelines, and infra.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving team practices.

Responsibilities

• Architect the incrementality product into a reliable, repeatable experimentation platform.
• Define near‑real‑time ingestion and processing patterns beyond batch workflows.
• Define AI‑powered workflows for marketers to act on insights.
• Lead work on connection-state systems and partner ecosystem across ingestion and exports.
• Shape technical approach in adjacent areas such as RBAC.
• Mentor teammates, participate in design reviews, and raise ship quality.
