Job summary

Northbeam, a remote-friendly data platform, seeks a Staff-level Software Engineer (backend-leaning) to architect scalable data and AI-enabled marketing insights. You will own end-to-end architecture, drive new offerings, and collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and designers.

This role blends backend leadership with selective frontend exposure and mentorship. The position is US/Canada-focused, offering equity, healthcare, a 401(k), PTO, holidays, parental leave, and a remote work

Qualifications

• 8+ years building distributed backend systems, microservices, APIs, or data processing in Python.
• Experience owning system architecture and making scalable tradeoffs.
• Proven ability to partner with product managers, designers, and data scientists.
• Startup or breadth-rich environment with ambiguity and strong problem solving.
• Ability to translate ambiguous needs into production-ready architecture.
• Fluency navigating complex datasets and interconnected tables.
• Frontend exposure with React/TypeScript; deep frontend specialization not required.
• Mentoring engineers and improving team processes.

Responsibilities

• Architect the incrementality product into a scalable experimentation platform.
• Define near-real-time data ingestion and processing patterns.
• Specify AI-powered workflows for marketing insights and actions.
• Lead connection-state systems and partner ecosystem across ingestion and exports.
• Shape RBAC and related security patterns for the product.
• Mentor team members and raise shipping standards.
