Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Payments team within the Platform organization.

You will own the architecture and technical direction of payments infrastructure, ensuring reliability and scalability as Coinbase expands into new regions and payment methods. You will drive a multi-year technical strategy for scaling integrations, routing, and funds-flow systems across global markets, building fault-tolerant distributed systems and elevating engineering quality

Qualifications

8+ years of experience in software engineering, with hands-on building payment systems or high-volume platforms.
Experience architecting fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale.
Proven track record owning production reliability and incident response.
Ability to partner with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

Own the architecture and technical direction of the Payments systems.
Define multi-year strategy and roadmap for scaling integrations, routing, and funds-flow across global markets.
Build and evolve distributed systems that process high-volume payment traffic with observability and reliability.
Lead and mentor engineers, participate in design reviews and architectural guidance.
