Laurel is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to impact our backend stack and raise engineering standards. You will own high-level technical challenges within a collaborative, cross-functional team, building scalable, secure software and improving performance.

You will mentor teammates, stay current with industry trends, and contribute to product and customer success requirements. Hybrid work is available in major US cities with remote options for exceptional candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional Backend Software development experience.
• Solid understanding of modern web technologies and large-scale data systems.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop backend components across applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to gather requirements and deliver high-quality software.
• Identify bottlenecks, improve performance, scalability, and security; mentor junior developers.
• Implement automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Engage with product and customer success to flesh out business requirements and designs.
• Participate in on-call rotation.
