Job summary

Helius is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to own core systems (Gatekeeper, Data Streaming, Historical APIs, or Account Index) at scale. You’ll help define architecture, set technical direction, and collaborate with founders to shape the platform.

In this role you’ll work with a small team on high-throughput, low-latency backend services, mentoring teammates and raising the bar for reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with production systems at scale.
• Strong systems-level intuition and ability to reason about low-level performance implications.
• Proficiency in Rust (highly preferred), C++, or Go.
• Experience debugging and optimizing latency-sensitive or high-throughput systems.
• Demonstrated ability to own problems end-to-end with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and release novel, performance-sensitive products for the Solana ecosystem.
• Optimize production systems, profiling, benchmarking, and reducing latency and increasing throughput.
• Collaborate with staff engineers and founders on architectural decisions.
• Improve observability, incident response, and operational simplicity.
• Mentor junior engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
