Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Core Services team. You will help build a scalable asset management solution for autonomous vehicle fleets and collaborate across software, hardware, and infra engineering to enable commercial operations.

You will design a robust micro-backend in AWS, partner with product and operations, and drive system reliability, scalability, and mentorship across the team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in building backend services.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with web protocols REST, gRPC and GraphQL.
• Experience building large-scale, high-concurrency, safety-critical backend services.
• Exceptional communication and collaborative skills.
• Strong self-starting, pragmatic approach balancing speed and quality.
• Ability to own the product lifecycle end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Design complex systems from the ground up with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and Operations to deliver value quickly and safely.
• Design, implement and maintain a micro-backend architecture in AWS.
• Develop fleet management and vehicle communication systems.
• Establish scalable, highly available infrastructure.
• Mentor teammates and promote engineering excellence.
