Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Core Services team to build scalable backend systems for autonomous vehicle fleets. You will help design and implement a micro-backend in AWS, coordinating with software, hardware and infra teams to enable safe, efficient operations at scale.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end product lifecycle, mentor engineers, and contribute to engineering excellence while supporting rapid delivery of capabilities to customers and partners.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in building backend services.
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with REST, gRPC and GraphQL.
• Experience with high concurrency, high throughput and safety critical backend services.
• Strong communication, collaboration and feedback skills.
• Action-oriented with ability to balance speed and quality.
• Motivation to own the product lifecycle end to end.

Responsibilities

• Design complex systems from the ground up with cross-functional teams.
• Partner with product managers, designers and operation stakeholders to deliver value.
• Design and maintain a micro-backend architecture in AWS to monitor and manage the fleet.
• Develop fleet management and vehicle communication solutions.
• Establish scalable infrastructure with high availability and reliability.
