Job summary

Sarvam is hiring a Staff Engineer to own the backend system end-to-end, including data modeling, APIs, and deployment in Python and FastAPI. You will orchestrate complex workflows with Temporal, ensuring sub-second latency for a multi-tenant SaaS platform while maintaining strong observability and reliable integration testing.

You will collaborate with the frontend team (Next.js) and help establish a design-first, documentation-first culture with RFCs and well-documented decisions.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years building production backend systems.
• Expertise in Python and FastAPI (or Golang).
• Experience with workflow orchestration at scale, ideally Temporal.
• High-scale, multi-tenant, low-latency distributed systems.
• Strong PostgreSQL and Redis fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end backend for agent, campaign, and user management—from data modeling to API design to deployment, in Python and FastAPI.
• Handle workflow orchestration with Temporal for long-running, stateful operations.
• Improve performance and reliability of a multi-tenant SaaS platform with sub-second latency SLOs.
• Develop observability through logging, metrics, tracing to enable fast debugging of production systems.
• Lead integration testing infrastructure to enable fast shipping without breaking customer-facing systems.
• Collaborate with frontend team (Next.js) to deliver a cohesive experience.
• Promote design-first and documentation-first engineering culture (RFCs, documented decisions).
