Job summary

State of North Carolina – Office of the State Auditor is seeking a Performance Staff Auditor II to assist in performance audits of state agencies, universities, and private contractors with NC contracts. You will plan and conduct audits, interview auditees, perform on-site fieldwork, and document findings with recommendations.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree with 12 accounting hours and 2 years of auditing or an equivalent combination.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 semester hours in accounting from an accredited institution and 2 years of auditing/accounting or program evaluation
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct audits across diverse topics
  • Engage auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand programs
  • Perform on-site fieldwork, gather information, identify risks, and assess controls
  • Review and analyze source records, data, and financial documentation
  • Document results with potential findings and recommendations
