Job summary

The State of North Carolina - Office of the State Auditor is seeking a Senior Auditor to join the Performance Audit Division. This full-time role focuses on planning and conducting audits to improve performance, accountability, and transparency across state programs.

You will engage with auditees, agency leadership, and legislators, perform on-site fieldwork, document findings, and mentor junior auditors. A bachelor's degree with accounting coursework and 3 years of auditing experience are

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 12 accounting hours and 3 years of auditing/accounting experience or equivalent.
• Ability to interpret GAAP/GAAS and professional standards.
• Experience with program evaluation and audit planning.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct audits across topics and programs.
• Speak with auditees, agency management, and legislators.
• Conduct on-site fieldwork to gather information and assess risk.
• Document audit results, findings, and recommendations.
• Mentor and guide junior auditors during audits.
