Job summary

Staff Assistant I professionals are organized problem-solvers who enjoy improving processes, coordinating operations, and supporting management. In this role, you\'ll conduct administrative studies, analyze work procedures, coordinate with multiple business units, and help ensure your department operates efficiently and effectively. Your contributions will directly support organizational success and high-quality public service.

What You\'ll Do
  • Analyze and make recommendations to the unit manager for the resolution of problems of work procedure and space allocation; and participate in the implementation of changes resulting from recommendations as needed.
  • Prepare reports and projections of workload and staffing for the manager of the unit.
  • Coordinate and resolve problems between the unit served and departmental housekeeping, payroll, personnel, and reproduction services.
  • Have responsibility for evaluating, ordering, maintaining, loaning, and inventorying supplies and equipment, and for resolving procurement problems with the departmental supply officer.
  • Supervise clerical personnel with responsibility for assigning and reviewing work, orientation, training, development, and evaluation of work performance.
You Qualify If You Meet One Of The Following:

At least one year of experience in one of the following:

  • performing entry-level administrative analytical work to assist in evaluating operations, policies, procedures, budgets, personnel matters, programs, or organizational issues at the level of Administrative Aid* or higher.
  • providing secretarial support to a senior executive, department/organization head, or manager of a major division, bureau, section, or organizational unit within a large and complex organization at the level of Secretary III or higher.
  • supervising at least 3 staff, including assigning and reviewing work, coordinating assignments, training employees, evaluating performance, and other supervisory duties at the level of Supervising Clerk or higher
