Job summary

Remitian is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the API surface for our Platform team. This role spans design, architecture, and production operations across the stack, with a focus on delivering a developer-friendly API for partners and customers.

Based in Florida, Miami preferred, with a hybrid schedule (3–4 days in office). You will lead API design, platform services, and cross-team collaboration, mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction for scalable, secure fintech

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing and operating production systems at scale.
• Proven experience building API products with contract, documentation, and developer experience in mind.
• Strong experience using AI tooling to ship features and accelerate development.
• Demonstrated ownership of non-trivial systems from architecture through production.
• Leadership without formal authority; ability to mentor engineers.
• High agency and proactive problem solving.
• Excellent communication for design docs and trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and evolution of our public API, including versioning, pagination, idempotency, error semantics, and authentication.
• Lead the design of significant platform systems and production deployment.
• Shape technical direction for the Platform team and align with engineering roadmap.
• Design complex features across the stack and translate ambiguous requirements into robust systems.
• Own platform services in production, ensuring reliability and security; drive incident follow-ups.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to engineering culture and standards, and drive cross-team alignment.
