Job summary

Remitly is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the technology direction for Remitly Business, leading multi-quarter initiatives across Go services, APIs, and Temporal workflows, while guiding React/TypeScript frontends.

You will mentor engineers, define AI-assisted development standards, and collaborate with Product and Compliance to deliver scalable, secure money-movement platforms in a hybrid Seattle setup.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience delivering backend services in cross-functional teams.
• Strong backend expertise in Go or similar language and willingness to adopt Go as primary.
• Frontend fluency with React/TypeScript to shape API contracts and UIs.
• Experience with AI coding agents and setting team standards for their use.
• Cloud design for secure, scalable services on AWS and system observability.

Responsibilities

• Lead large, multi-quarter initiatives from design through launch.
• Design money-movement flows on Temporal with reliable ledgering and reconciliation.
• Drive frontend architecture decisions for React/TypeScript applications.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
